In Memory of the Third Place.

The Turkish suite at Arlington Baths is a large, square room, warmed through a plenum heating system. It features tiled walls and floor, and an ogival ceiling adorned with small, star-shaped windows of coloured glass, which dimly light the space. The atmosphere is quiet and contemplative. Bathers rest on benches along the walls, immersed in the heat and hypnotic drying sounds. Silence is maintained throughout the space, creating an environment of secluded reflection. "Turkish Suite" cross-fades from a field recording made in the Arlington's Turkish suite to a re-recording of the same field recording while being played through Christoph's stereo in his room, where we used to sit in armchairs and engage with albums in deep listening sessions.
